Restaurant Reopening Guide

An Easily Actionable Guide to Reopening Your Restaurant

During this challenging time, BentoBox is here to show you tactics to move forward through the COVID-19 pandemic. With best practices that are quickly-evolving and guidance often unclear, our goal is to centralize information.

Note: The information below is not intended to be legal advice. You should always reference your state and city regulations for the most up-to-date requirements for your area. Check out this guide from The New York Times.  We also have compiled this resource for state-by-state guidance.

What Does “Reopening” Mean?

Reopening a restaurant will look different for every restaurant. Some restaurants will open in phases based on state guidance; others will offer a mix of partial seating plus orders for takeout and delivery. Others may remain closed at the current time.

How Should You Decide When It’s The Right Time to Re-Open?

Do a formal cost-benefit analysis. This should factor in the number of tables you’ll be able to seat, covers per shift, and any new costs for single-use items, packaging, etc. We’ll get into this more later.
